In-Depth Study Programmes
Foundation Programme and Teacher Training Programme
If you are looking to deepen your meditation practice and understanding of Buddhist teachings then KMC Wales offers two in-depth study programmes which are open to everyone – the Foundation Programme and the Teacher Training Programme.
The Foundation Programme (FP) is the perfect next step for those who have enjoyed attending drop-in meditation sessions.
Foundation Programme is a tried and tested way to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of Buddha’s teachings, maintain a daily meditation practice that is both focused and powerful, and make genuine spiritual progress. The classes are systematic and interactive and students will find that their knowledge and wisdom grows week by week as a result.
FP provides an opportunity to engage in systematic study and meditation on the essential subjects of Kadampa Buddhism based on six books by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. The current book being studied is ‘Joyful Path of Good Fortune’. The emphasis is on gaining practical experience of Buddha’s teachings that you can apply to your daily life.
by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
A clear and comprehensive explanation of the entire path to enlightenment. We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do along every stage of our spiritual journey.
With this book, Geshe Kelsang offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents all Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practised, enriching his explanation with stories and illuminating analogies. This is a perfect guidebook to the Buddhist path.
Joyful Path of Good Fortune can be purchased from Tharpa Publications.
“The practice of Lamrim is very important because everyone needs to cultivate peaceful states of mind. By listening to or reading these teachings we can learn how to control our mind and always keep a good motivation in our heart. This will make all our daily actions pure and meaningful.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

The Teacher for Foundation Programme is Sue Jenkins. A dedicated student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for 40 years, Sue has been studying and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for many years. Her practical and warm-hearted approach to integrating Buddhas’ advice into daily life makes her teachings very accessible.
Teacher Training Programme (TTP), offers practitioners of Kadampa Buddhism the opportunity to deepen their study to gain practical experience of both Buddha’s Sutra and Tantra teachings. TTP gives us great confidence in our own practice and in our ability to explain Kadam Dharma to others.
The programme consists of teachings, meditations, discussion and teaching skills classes providing a multi-faceted approach to the development of authentic spiritual experience. Students on TTP also engage in several retreats scheduled during the year.
TTP involves enrolment and students on the programme are required to observe several commitments including attending all the teaching and discussion classes as well as sit examinations.
TTP is taught by Kadam Paul and takes place on Sunday mornings from 9am to 1pm. The current book being studied is Mahamudra Tantra. For more information please contact epc@meditationinwales.org
