November 6th – December 18th
The Wednesday Evening Class has for many years been our advanced General Programme class. As from 4th September it will transform into the Foundation Programme, which is designed for thoses who wish to take their study and practice of Buddhism a step further. The Foundation Programme (FP) provides systematic study, meditation and discussion on six essential Buddhist texts to deepen our understanding of Buddha’s teachings. Students enroll for one book at a time, and commit to attending every class. It is possible to enroll at any time and a free trial is available, after which payment is by standing order on a monthly basis – £25 waged/£15 unwaged.
The first book we will study is Universal Compassion by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This short but immensely practical book explains how we can transform all our daily experiences – even the most challenging – into opportunities for spiritual growth. In particular, as the title implies, we learn how to transform all difficulties and problems into compassion for all living beings. With universal compassion in our hearts, the path to full enlightenment is swift and easy.
If you think you might be interested please come for the introductory class on 4th September, and the two free trial classes on 11th and 18th September. By then you will know if FP is for you, or if our Monday Evening class is more suitable. Students who have been attending the Wednesday evening classes up till now will not find the new FP classes any more difficult to understand, but will find that the more structured approach greatly enhances their practice.
