Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism.

Geshe-la, as his students affectionately call him, was ordained as a Buddhist monk at the age of eight and then spent almost forty years in concentrated study and meditation. He has dedicated his entire life to teaching Buddhism and to providing conditions conducive for the study and practice of Buddha's teachings, with the sole aim of helping others discover a meaningful life and solve their problems.

He is the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union and has written twenty highly acclaimed books that reveal the complete path to enlightenment, trained hundreds of meditation teachers through the Teacher Training Programme, and established over 1000 meditation centres and groups in over 40 countries.

A humble monk, he is made extraordinary by his selfless wish and tireless work for others to have everything they need to follow the spiritual path. Through his instructions Geshe-la shows how we can integrate Buddha's advice into our modern lives and find real, lasting peace and happiness.

Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong

Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong is the elected Spiritual Director of the NKT and the Resident Teacher at Manjushri KMC, the Mother Centre of Kadampa Buddhism. Gen-la has studied and practiced Kadampa Buddhism for many years under the guidance of her Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. As one of Venerable Geshe Kelsang’s close disciples, Gen-la Dekyong’s teachings, humour and kindness exemplify the essence of the Buddhist way of life. She is a perfect example of a Kadampa Teacher. Each year, Gen-la Dekyong teaches at the International Festivals, National Festivals, and Dharma Celebrations throughout the world

Kadam Bridget Heyes

Kadam Bridget Heyes is the elected National Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU in the UK. She is a senior disciple of Geshe Kelsang who has been practicing for over 20 years.

Kadam Bridget is known for her powerful teachings, compassionate heart, and deep understanding of Buddha's wisdom advice. Her teachings are exceptionally clear and she presents profound ideas in a way that are easy to practice and integrate into daily life. As a mother of two, she has a special insight into how to bring Buddhism alive to meet the demands of a busy modern life. Kadam Bridget shows an inspiring example for everyone on the spiritual path.

Kadam Mike Garside- The Centre's Resident Teacher

Mike has been practicing Buddha's teachings in accordance with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's presentation for 35 years, and is well known and regarded within the tradition for his gentle and accessible approach to helping people gain their own experience of Buddhist practice.

Mike has lived in many New Kadampa Tradition Centres, taught Kadam Dharma in Spain and Yorkshire and has contributed to the editing of many of Geshe-la's books. He also engaged in long retreat with Geshe-la at Tharpaland from 1987-1990. We are very fortunate to be able to benefit from Mike's wealth of compassion and wisdom.

 

Branch Teachers

All the other teachers at Dharmavajra Centre and it's branches are sincerely studying Dharma and many are also resident at the Centre. They combine their studies with work, practice and teaching, bringing invaluable practical experience to their students.
