Drawing of Buddha

Many schools find visiting the Centre or meeting a Buddhist guest speaker a useful compliment to the RS curriculum, where students can see a living Buddhist community and understand the theories in context. At the Centre, we can accommodate groups of up to 35, from any key stage. Visits are engaging and interactive and geared toward the relevant age groups.

We tell students about the life of Buddha and his teachings, and how we try to put them into practice in our everyday lives, emphasising that we are modern Buddhists, many of us living ordinary lives with jobs, children and partners! However, we can also tell them about how some people decide to become ordained- to become monks and nuns, and what this means. Most of all we enjoy introducing young people to the practice of meditation and will spend some time guiding a meditation and then discussing the benefits.

Pay Attention!

Meditation can help children concentrate and focus on their lessons. It can help them relax before the pressure of examinations, or if they are experiencing problems at home.

Primary teachers have remarked to us how the attention span of junior pupils has deteriorated rapidly in recent years. Meditation techniques can help redress this imbalance, and are simple to integrate into classroom life. In fact, it gives the teachers a break as well!

Book early!

A school visit is easy to book. You can telephone on 01792 458245 or e-mail info@meditationinwales.org.

It's nice to have some notice so we can arrange our timetable but if you have a special event it is always worth a call!

There is no charge for our visits, although we do request a donation to cover our costs.
